Isn’t this something most news orgs already practice? One of the things discussed at the ethics conference was how it’s impossible for journalists to report the “truth” because everyone’s version of the truth is different. It is the job of journalists to report their findings accurately. Sometimes accurate reporting can be of incorrect news. In the hustle and bustle of online news it’s impossible to go through every single news story to fact check all of the details.
That being said, I do agree that if an inaccuracy is spotted that it is highly ethical for journalists to report their error in order to protect their and the news org they work for’s reputations and credibility.
