Goals

• learn to use developing technological tools productively
• apply these tools in learning settings and communications

Specifics

• we explore technologies in this course that range from the familiar to the unknown
• groups will select a relevant, emerging technology (app, service, platform) and explore its implications legally, ethically or both
• groups will notify the class of their selection at least one week in advance
• every student is responsible for exploring the technology before class to prepare for discussion led by the group, which lasts about 15 minutes
• technologies will be covered in all exams

Considerations for Discussion

• applicability of the technology to your daily life
• applicability to social interactions
• applicability in news or strategic communication
• applicability as a teaching tool (e.g., can you think of a way we might use this technology in J676?)
• relationship to other technologies
• mass appeal
